Trustees

Strong governance is key to the success of our Trust and its schools and services, providing strategic leadership, oversight of financial and academic performance and to challenge and support the senior leaders.

The Board of Trustees has overall accountability and legal responsibility for the Trust. As non-executive directors, they are responsible for ensuring that Flourish Learning Trust meets its obligations as a company. As Trustees, they are responsible for the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the Trust as a whole; for holding the CEO and wider executive team to account for the Trust’s performance and for overseeing the financial performance and probity of the Trust. In addition, a number of Trustees take on a ‘link’ monitoring responsibility for liaising with relevant staff in the Trust’s schools or services for a priority such as safeguarding.

The Board has four main committees:

  1. Quality of Education;
  2. Finance, Audit & Risk;
  3. People, Pay and Culture
  4. Safeguarding

In addition there is an ad-hoc Nominations Committee. The Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meet at least six times per year, the Quality of Education, People, Pay and Culture and Safeguarding committees meet at least termly and Nominations Committee meet as required.  Chairs of the Committees report back to the full board key issues and minutes from the committees’ meetings are made available to all Trustees. Each committee has a work plan and terms of reference.
